The legal assistant will enhance the effectiveness of the in-house legal department by performing a variety of functions including developing case information and performing administrative and clerical tasks.

Essential Functions

• Prepare draft documents and assist in litigation or contract matters.

• Draft legal documents and letters.

• Read case law and prepare case briefs.

• File and maintain legal documents.

• Prepare responses to complaints and requests.

• Establish and organize a variety of legal case files.

• Monitor calendars and ensure deadlines are met.

• Maintain essential documents and ensure database is updated with the most current information.

• Generate legal reports as needed.

• Communicate with all parties involved in a case or legal request.

• Support case research and preparation.

• Perform legal research.

• Assist legal counsel with daily administrative tasks.

Education/experience

• Associates degree in business, law, or related field is required.

• Minimum 5 years related legal/administrative experience is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Paralegal or law office experience preferred.
